Quick Facts
-
Schedule: Weekday Evenings: 3–5 evenings per week (approx. 5:00 PM – 8:30 PM).
-
Weekends: Flexible Saturdays (Half or Full day) + Sundays (Full day, typically 9 AM – 5 PM).
-
Compensation: $40–$45 per hour.
-
Start Date: ASAP.
-
Location: Los Altos, CA (94022).
-
Focus: Active Toddler Care, Safety, and Household Support.
The Opportunity: A Supportive Household Partnership
This role is designed for a professional caregiver who can seamlessly step in when the family’s full-time daytime nanny is off duty. With one parent in a demanding corporate role, the family is eager to find a "team player" who can help ease the household’s mental load regarding childcare.
The main focus is on creating a fun, safe, and loving environment for an active 2-year-old. While this is not a heavy housekeeping role, the family appreciates a partner who naturally lends an extra set of hands—such as straightening up after meals, managing kitchen tidying, and ensuring play areas stay organized—to keep the home running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
-
Active Engagement: Create opportunities for developmentally appropriate play, including sensory activities, reading, and park outings.
-
Safety & Allergy Vigilance: Provide dedicated care for a child with a nut allergy, ensuring all snacks and meals are strictly nut-free and prepared with extreme caution.
-
Household Support: Assist with light tasks that reduce the family’s mental load, such as kitchen cleanup, dishes, and tidying play areas.
-
Collaborative Partnership: Partner respectfully with the primary weekday nanny to ensure a consistent and seamless routine for the child.
-
Reliability: Serve as a consistent, dependable presence for evening and weekend coverage.
The Ideal Candidate
-
Experienced: 3–5+ years of professional childcare experience with a deep understanding of toddler development and energetic milestones.
-
Professional & Nurturing: An emotionally intelligent, warm personality with the physical energy to keep up with an active child.
-
Safety-First: CPR and First-Aid Certified. Experience caring for children with food allergies (specifically nuts) is a significant plus.
-
Adaptable: Able to remain calm under pressure and comfortable taking charge in the home.
-
Bonus Skills: A valid driver’s license, passport, and willingness to occasionally travel with the family are highly valued (though no driving is required for daily duties).
